York Kin Requirements
Note: To take MCV4U, you must take MHF4U before or while taking MCV4U. To be admitted to the Faculty of Health, you may need to meet additional requirements depending on the program for which you have applied. These certificates can be taken at the same time as an honours bachelor`s degree if the application is successful. After graduation, students who have successfully completed the diploma and certificate requirements receive a certificate in addition to the bachelor`s degree. Students can only enroll in one certificate stream at a time. The honours bachelor`s program described above can be linked to any interdisciplinary honours bachelor`s program in the Faculty of Humanities and Professional Studies. Students must take at least 48 credits in kinesiology and health sciences, including the kinesiology and health sciences core and at least 36 credits in the interdisciplinary program. Courses designed to meet kinesiology and health sciences requirements may also not be used for interdisciplinary program requirements. Students in these interdisciplinary programs must complete a total of at least 18 credits at the 4000 level, including at least 12 credits in kinesiology and health sciences and six credits in the interdisciplinary program. For more information on requirements, see the lists of interdisciplinary bachelor`s degree programs specializing in double majors in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies Programs section of the undergraduate calendar. Minimum requirements for the doctorate.
Kinesiology degrees are: satisfactory completion of a planned program of 75 points of graduate study beyond the bachelor`s degree; a list of the entire program, indicating periods of intensive study after the first year of graduate studies, which is attached to the program program; satisfactory performance on a departmental certification examination; and the preparation and defence of a research paper. In addition, doctoral students in kinesiology must complete a sequence of three research studies or equivalent studies to meet the degree requirements. Relevant courses taken at other accredited graduate schools up to a maximum of 30 points or 45 points if taken at another Columbia University faculty may be accepted for the minimum score for graduation. Each graduate candidate must meet the department`s requirements for the award of the M.Phil. Degree before continuing in the doctoral program. These degree requirements are listed in the Bulletin for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, which is available from the Office of Doctoral Studies. Each student and their advisor develop a program that helps the student achieve their goals and successfully complete the series of studies that meet the research requirements of the program. Note 1: It is strongly recommended that students meet the above general educational requirements during their first 54 credits. The School of Kinesiology and Health Sciences does not recognize course replacements for its academic course requirements. Students taking a course offered by another unit or program that is an exclusion from courses with a kinesiology course must replace the corresponding kinesiology course with another kinesiology course with a credit value equal to or greater than the level of the same year or more. All students enrolled in kinesiology and health sciences programs must complete the practicum core, which consists of one practicum course in each of the following six areas: water, dance/gymnastics, emergency care, individual and doubles sports, team sports, athletics and two additional free electives, a total of eight courses.
A detailed description of the courses offered and requirements can be obtained from the School of Kinesiology and Health Sciences. Students in the Applied Physiology concentration can expect to meet at least the minimum course requirements for the Ed.D. Graduation as part of their individual program, which is designed in consultation with their senior faculty sponsor (consultant).
